Computer Classes Descriptions
Getting Started: Hands-on Class for those who are beginner computer users. In this class you will practice using your mouse and get comfortable moving around a computer. We will also discuss the basics of computer forms like textboxes, radio buttons, drop down menus, etc...
Basic Computer: In this class you will learn the basics of Windows 10. We will explore items such as the start menu, taskbar, desktop, and shortcuts. We will also create icons, folders and learn about new features introduced into Windows 10 such as Cortana. Learn the proper terminology to use when talking about a Windows computer. Please bring your own questions!!
Surfing the Web: Hands-on class about using an internet browser. We will touch on Microsoft Edge (Internet Explorer), and Google Chrome. We will discuss terminology, navigation techniques, domains and sub-domains, internet safety and proper search strategy. We will explore your favorite websites, please bring questions and ideas of what you would like to do on the internet!!
File Management: Hands-on class will teach you the all-important cut, copy and paste. Managing folders, selecting files, deleting files and folders, using your recycle bin, and moving stuff around your PC. Please bring lots of questions!!
Introduction to Microsoft Word: Covers creating editing, saving, and printing documents. It will also include cut and paste, formatting text, spacing, margins, headers, pictures, and tables.
Introduction to Microsoft Excel: Hands-on class about getting started with Excel spreadsheet software. We will discuss formatting spreadsheets, managing cells, different types of cell referencing, simple formulas, functions, charts, and much more. Feel free to bring any questions about your own spreadsheets!
