Hicksville Library Welcomes Christine Edwins as Library Director

The Hicksville Public Library Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Christine Edwins has been appointed the Director of the Hicksville Library, effective August 20, 2020. Her appointment was a result of a countywide search following civil service regulations. After interviewing many qualified candidates, the Board of Trustees unanimously voted for her.
Mrs. Edwins has extensive experience, dedicating the majority of her career to working in libraries. Most recently, she served as the Director of the Bayville Free Library, where she oversaw the library budget, reduced costs through grants, maintained and updated the library collection, and forged relationships with community partners through outreach efforts.
Prior to her time as Library Director, she worked as a librarian with a focus on children and young adult services, assisting the community with reference help, and using her fresh take on library services on the planning and implementation of new programs.
As an alumna of CW Post Long Island University and a native Long Islander, Mrs. Edwins earned her master’s degree from the Palmer School of Library and Information Science and went on to complete a post-master’s certificate in Public Library Administration.
Mrs. Edwins will be charged with continuing to advance the Hicksville Library’s mission to provide our diverse community with the broadest possible range of information resources, as well as a variety of opportunities for cultural enrichment that enhances the quality of life, while offering opportunities for lifelong learning. We are excited to welcome Mrs. Edwins to the Hicksville community.
