Award winning local author, Kerianna Flanagan Brosky, has done it again. She has created her fifth book of fascinating Long Island history and lore. In her new book, Historic Crimes of Long Island: Misdeeds from the 1600’s to the 1950’s, Flanagan Brosky guides Long Islanders on a fascinating tour chock full of true stories or murder and mayhem originating from west to east on Long Island. Many of these shocking, but true stories are accompanied by photographs or illustrations, which helps to bring the faces and settings in the story to life.

Some of the locations of the stories in this book still exist today and can be visited. Walking through the town of Huntington, you can spot the cemetery high up on a hill where the British once planted “Fort Golgotha” during the American Revolution, or take a leisurely drive out eat to Cutchogue to visit the Wickham Farmhouse where in the dead of night in the year 1854, an Irish farmhand of the Wickham family, murdered them in cold blood while they were asleep in their beds. And, did you know that Long Island, like Salem, Massachusetts, had its very own witchcraft trial? All that and more is found within the pages of Flanagan Brosky’s chillingly fascinating book. Discover a new perspective on Long Island as you’ve never seen it before. We have this book in the new non-fiction section, call number 974.721 B.
