VINCENT AND THEO: The Van Gogh Brothers

Printer-friendly versionPrinter-friendly version
Author:
Deborah Heiligman
Genre:
Young Adult Biography

This book is a beautifully-written biography of the Van Gogh brothers, Vincent and Theo. Theo and and Vincent had a loving, brotherly relationship from childhood. Theo, a manager of an art gallery, supported his famous brother throughout their lives; providing money for living expenses, money for paints and canvases, and suggestions for his paintings. Without Theo, there would have been no Vincent Van Gogh. The biography is meticulously researched, drawing on the six-hundred fifty-eight letters between Vincent and Theo. The paintings and letters were saved by Theo’s wife, Jo. Without Jo, the world would not know of Vincent Van Gogh. This book won the 2018 YALSA Award for Excellence in Non-fiction for Young Adults. We have it in YA B Van Gogh H.
