Latest Statement Regarding Library Closure

To assist in preventative measures of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Hicksville Library will be closed from Monday, March 16th until further notice in accordance with NYS guidelines.. All Library programming through Tuesday, May31st has been either cancelled or postponed. Museum passes are suspended until further notice. These dates are subject to change. Please check our website, Facebook page, or phone message prior to visiting the Library.

Our number one priority is the safety of our patrons. At this time there are no reported cases of Coronavirus at the Hicksville Library. We are proactively taking this step as a precautionary measure to ensure the welfare and safety of each member of our community, particularly those most vulnerable. We will continue to monitor all new information released on the Coronavirus and will adhere to the recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), both local and federal government agencies, and health officials.

No fines or late fees will incur on materials that are due within the duration of the closure. Any library card that expires prior to May 1st will automatically be renewed until May 1, 2020.

We understand that there is difficulty in this time of isolation and we are anxious to reopen our doors. In the meantime, we invite you to use our online resources from the comfort and safety of your home with the use of your library card. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

·      Gale Courses offers a wide range of highly interactive, instructor led courses that you can take entirely online.   As a library card holder in good standing, you are entitled to these courses at no cost. Courses run for six weeks and new sessions begin every month.

·      eBooks and audiobooks are available through the Nassau Digital Doorway at nassau.overdrive.com Their new, easy-to-use app, Libby, is available for download in the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. 

·      Kanopy is an online video streaming platform with over 30,000 movies. This includes documentaries, indie, and foreign films from over hundreds of producers including The Criterion Collection, The Great Courses, Kino Lorber, PBS, and thousands of independent filmmakers. Download the app or visit hicksville.kanopy.com to sign up with your valid Hicksville Public Library card.

·      RB Digital is the world's largest library newsstand, curating custom collections from thousands of magazines from North American and global publishers (in multiple languages and genres), libraries offer patrons full-color, digital editions for desktop and mobile streaming and mobile-app download.

·      Tutor.com offers one-on-one help for students and professionals.

·      Reference Databases – We offer a variety of databases to assist you in finding information on numerous topics including Health & Medicine, Encyclopedias, Science, Business & Finance, and much more.
