Library of Things

Materials from the Library of Things must be checked out from and returned to the Circulation Desk during the library’s hours of operation. Things may not be returned to any of the book drops or any other library location.
A valid Hicksville Public Library card must be used and the patron must be 18 years old or older and in good standing with the library. If a patron age 17 and under uses material(s) from the Library of Things the parent or guardian accepts all responsibility if any part of the material(s) is damaged or lost.
Loan periods are between 7 and 14 days, depending on the thing. Please reserve the thing for the day you want to pick it up.
There will be a late charge of $5 per day for overdue things. In the event of a non-return of a thing, the Library will add the replacement cost of the thing and storage item to your record.

A maximum of 3 things from the Library of Things can be reserved per household every thirty day period and another reservation may not be made until the first reservation has passed. Once the 3 thing limit has been reached, patrons must wait 30 days from the date of their first reservation to book another thing.
An object can only be checked out once per month per family (i.e. those patrons living at the same mailing address)
Patrons may not use another adult family member card to book additional things once the 3 thing limit has been exceeded.
Things are subject to availability, and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis up to 60 days in advance. The Library has the right to monitor usage to ensure fairness and access for the greatest number of patrons.
