AARP's Tax-Aide Service will be held by appointment only on Tuesdays from February 7th through April 11th.

Registration information: Beginning Wednesday, January 11 at 10:30 am, appointments can be made online (the link will be posted here at the time of registration), in person, or by phone by calling 516-931-1417. No-shows for appointments without notification will not be given a new date.

AARP Tax-Aide Service allows taxpayers to provide electronic files containing their completed forms and tax documents. This program is aimed at low to moderate income taxpayers with simple tax returns that can be prepared in less than one hour. Taxpayers with complicated tax returns (more than 12 documents) or out-of-scope subjects will be advised to seek professional tax preparation assistance as will those with incomes exceeding $100,000.

The Hicksville Library's AARP Tax Aide volunteers will use an appointment-based drop off procedure to prepare, finalize and e-file returns.

  • Patrons will have the option to wait in the library or outside while their information is reviewed and scanned. We will need a phone number or email that AARP will use to communicate with patrons to respond to questions or comments.
  • Once the scanning process is complete, patrons will have their documents returned to them by AARP.
  • This year there is an extended intake package that you can pick up from the library before your appointment. Appointments can be made in person or by phone by calling 516-931-1417. No-shows for appointments without notification will not be given a new date.
